"Certain moments in time can define the character of a city. This is that moment."
Chattanooga, TN
There's a new future on the riverfront.
Chattanooga has become a clear target for development on the national map, owing to its quality of life. Voted “Best Town Ever” twice by Outside Magazine, it has rebranded itself as the “Scenic City.” Urban Story Ventures has committed to raise that bar even higher with their proposed community, the Bend.
The Bend is a 110-acre mixed-use urban community that will forever revitalize Chattanooga’s urban core. This community will energize the economy, enrich the area’s character, promote a variety of housing options, and lay a foundation for future opportunity.
Vision is great, but execution is everything. RaganSmith was proud to be selected as project engineer and landscape architect for this challenge. The project scope includes design of the utility infrastructure, roadway infrastructure, central canal, hardscape and landscape elements within the streetscape, planting design of the open spaces, and more.
Understanding the goal and objectives of the desired built environment is essential when designing the infrastructure to support it. The attention must be in the details and failure is not an option. The success of these efforts will be experienced by the residents tomorrow and the days to come.
