Ragan Smith provided master planning services for the 26 acre campground located off Briley Parkway near the Opryland Resort. Wanting to take advantage of the new resurgence in the popularity of camping, the client’s wish is to update the facilities and improve functionality of the site.
The campground’s central core will undertake the greatest transformation. The existing lodge will have its curb-appeal improved. By providing more green space at the front door, the setting becomes more welcoming and the guest’s experience will be enhanced. The site’s vehicular circulation was evaluated and is to be reconfigured to accommodate large recreation vehicles and improve flow. A complete overhaul of the pool area is planned to make the setting more like a resort. Pool side amenities will include sand volleyball, hammocks, a playground, and outdoor fire place. Ragan Smith also has made suggestions regarding site furnishings, area lighting, and signage to create a cohesive, overall design, that pulls the design together.
