Transportation Engineer, Senior Project Manager

RaganSmith is seeking a full-time Transportation Engineer, Senior Project Manager based in our Nashville office. This position is responsible for assisting in growth, staff development, project delivery and leadership of the Transportation Design group. This position includes project management, training, and management of technical staff, client coordination, and marketing responsibilities.  


  • Project management – including staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and responsible charge of design deliverables
  • Directing and mentoring staff
  • Project delivery and quality
  • Sub-contractor oversight
  • Budgeting and client invoicing
  • Proposal content and coordination
  • Coordination with construction engineering and inspection staff
  • Act as a representative of RaganSmith
  • Additional related duties as needed


  • 12+ years’ experience in the Transportation Design field
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Tennessee PE license
  • Experience leading and directing individuals or a team
  • Understanding of roadway design guidance from AASHTO
  • Experience with TDOT guidelines, procedures, plan preparation, and local programs projects
  • Understanding of MicroStation/Geopak
  • Experience in development of roadway plans and specifications
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with billing and client invoicing
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
